Vacation rental home tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting and booking your prefect Wilmington, NC vacation home:

  • Select vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Luxurious with Beautiful Ocean View has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
