Our top Vacation rental booking tips:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the largest rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Wilmington, NC restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, picking, and booking the right Wilmington, NC rental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. *NEW* 2 bedroom bungalow near downtown Wilmington has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a particular Wilmington, NC beach you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
