Strategies for getting the perfect Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

Find your best deal:

  • Summer time is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

Choosing and booking the bestvacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. All Summer Long: 3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Home located in the Woodlands and Waterwa has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your group.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.

Know before you go:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
