While we want you to disconnect and appreciate watching the visiting pelicans … don’t worry, there is a TV in each room with a Roku stick, as well as high-speed internet.

The Sandy Moose is conveniently located on West Beach Dr., just mins. from everything you’ll need during your stay: painless beach access only steps away, under 5 miles from grocery stores on the island (Publix, Food Lion), and magnificant local eateries. If you want to discover local areas, the bungalow is 14mi to Southport, 27mi to Wilmington and 60mi (1hr) to Myrtle Beach, and a fun ferry ride to Bald Head Island and Fort Fisher.

Oak Island is special in many ways: it’s known for superb saltwater fishing - bring your rod and cast from the surf or grab a local charter for the day. It features a south-facing beach - savor both the sunrise and the sunset from the front porch. It’s home to the last lighthouse to be constructed in NC – drive up to the tip of Oak Island to discover the lighthouse and wind your way back westward grabbing some barbeque at Barbeque House and ice cream at Lil & John’s!

Located near the beach, this vacation home is in Long Beach, a neighborhood in Oak Island. Bald Head Island Lighthouse and Old Brunswick County Jail Museum are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Oak Island Golf Club and The Reserve Golf Club at St. James Plantation. Bald Head Island Information Center and North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport are also worth visiting. Jet skiing, kayaking, and scuba diving offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with cycling nearby.

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.

  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective.
