Our top Vacation rental home tips:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are high season in Oak Island. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Wilmington, NC restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
