6 Bedrooms | 6 Full Bathrooms | 1 Half Bathroom
4 Kings | 4 Twin-over-double Bunk Beds

The clean lines of modern architectural design meet the glorious natural beauty of the shoreline at Sandbox, a gorgeous luxury home that finished construction in early summer of 2024. Soak in unobstructed ocean vistas from the upper and lower decks or soak away your cares in the private pool and spa. Meticulously designed and thoughtfully laid out, you’ll find no detail overlooked at this spectacular property.

On the upper floor, the light neutral tones of the main living space soothe the senses and draw the eye to the handsome horizon beyond. A curved sectional provides plenty of seating to gather and watch the big game on the wall-mounted Intelligent TV or savor the peaceful glow of the flames from the gas fireplace. The fashonable but sturdy dining table waits for meals or family game nights and seats 10. There are seats for an additional three guests at the adjoining kitchen island. Featuring plenty of counter and storage space, the gourmet kitchen is furnished with high-end appliances and all the equipment you need to whip up your favorite recipes or local fresh seafood. A half bath is located down the hall for your convenience.

Each bedroom features its own private en-suite full bath and a flat screen TV for personal entertainment. Just off the kitchen, you’ll find the bunk room, with two twin-over-double bunk beds, and an attached bath with a standard tub/shower combo and double vanity. As you move down the hallway, the next bedroom is furnished with a king bed and the bathroom features a beautiful tile step-in shower. At the end of the hall, a modest office space is furnished with a wall-to-wall desk, keyboard, mouse and monitor for those who still have to keep up with work or school. Across the way, a spa-like master suite contains a king size bed and direct porch access. The attached bath is furnished with a double vanity and an broad step-in tile shower that also contains a separate soaking tub within the shower enclosure.

The exact same bedroom and bathroom arrangement is echoed on the lower floor, with another bunk room and two more king bedrooms available on that level. As you exit the stairs, a second living area complete with a kitchenette is located to the left and provides access to the lower deck and pool area beyond. A modest exercise room is supplied off this space, complete with a Peloton bicycle, hand weights and yoga mats, a barre and a full-length mirror, along with your choice of the supplied TV or the ocean vistas beyond for motivation. The laundry room is just down the hall, featuring a full-sized stackable washer and dryer.

Venturing outside, you’ll find a gas grille available for outdoor entertaining, and you can’t beat the view from the pool and spa. Mostly shaded, there are two poolside lounge chairs and additional seating along with a sturdy wooden picnic table here. Your private wooden boardwalk stretches over the wetlands to the sand beyond, ensuring beach access is a breeze. The porches on both levels are furnished with ceiling fans for days when the sea breeze is a bit less enthusiastic. On the upper-level covered porch, you’ll find a comfortable outdoor couch facing the outdoor gas fireplace, along with additional seating facing the waves beyond.

The peaceful, private lot is centrally located on Oak Island, and is only a fast walk to Food Lion, eateries, mini golf and shopping. Located on a side street with extremely limited public beach access parking spaces, you’ll find this is one of the most uncrowded sections of Oak Island’s white sand beach even during the peak of the summer season. Whether you’re getting away with family, friends or a little bit of both, you can build the vacation of your dreams at Sandbox!

Tips for getting the perfect rental home experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Oak Island. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Selecting the perfect rental home in Oak Island:

  • Start by having your group commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Sandbox: Modern Home with Pool, Hot Tub, Elevator, Direct Beach Access has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before booking your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your group.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
