Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your search:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Stylish Studio Near Wrightsville Beach
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC beach you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
