Savor expansive vistas of the marsh, dunes and Atlantic from the comfort of your living room at The Loggerhead. Soak in the peaceful and secluded vibes afforded by this striking location as you walk along your private boardwalk to Oak Island’s white sand beach.

With common spaces decorated in citrus hues and with warm wooden accents throughout, you’ll feel you’ve escaped to the tropics as soon as you step inside. Gather in the comfortable and inviting living room to watch a favorite show as a family, or shut the T.V. cabinet doors and watch the flames dance in the fireplace or the sunset reflect on the waves instead. Take a closer look with the supplied telescope to check out dolphins at play or study the stars at nighttime.

The adjacent kitchen is entirely equipped with everything you need to prepare favorite family recipes or the fresh catch of the day. The breakfast bar provides mealtime seating for four, while the close by dining table seats six. A half bathroom is located down the hall for convenience. Ceiling fans are located throughout the home to help keep you cozy.

Off the living room you’ll find the master suite, which features ocean vistas, a king bed and a TV for personal entertainment. A recliner provides the ideal spot to curl up in the sun with a good beach read. The attached bathroom offers his and her pedestal sinks, a step-in tile shower and a claw-foot tub. All other sleeping spaces are located on the lower level, along with the laundry room.

The secondary suite is also furnished with a king bed, and offers an en suite bathroom with a step-in tile shower. Appreciate direct access to the oceanfront screened porch from this bedroom. Next door, an airy office space features two sets of French doors that allow light to stream in from the covered porch and hall. This space also has a twin bed and gives direct access to the covered porch, which includes a wooden porch swing and classic rocking chair. Just beyond the office, you’ll find a full bathroom with hall access and a step-in shower. Directly opposite, the queen bedroom overlooks the front covered porch. The final bedroom, equipped with a king bed, offers direct access to both the ocean front covered porch and the streetside covered porch, a shady respite that also offers beautiful vistas of the marsh.

When you are ready to hit the sand, kids and kids-at-heart will adore the excitement of heading down your own private boardwalk over the marsh on your way to the beach. Stop at the deck with constructed-in seating to watch for shorebirds, turtles, deer and more. Once you’re to the shared sand access path, only a few more steps take you to one of the least busy stretches of sand on Oak Island’s East Beach.

Once you return from a day spent in the sun and surf, an enclosed outdoor shower on the ground level with hot and cold water comes in handy when rinsing the sand! You'll also find a half bath located beside the outdoor shower. In the evening, walk less than half a mile to savor a round of mini-golf or some arcade games at Oak Island Jungle Golf, treat yourself to some of the best ice cream on the island at Lil and John’s Sweetreat or indulge in a mouthwatering dining experience at Salt 64. Build vacation memories to last a lifetime at The Loggerhead!

Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Oak Island vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • To find the largest vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Wilmington, NC attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your group select date ranges and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. The Loggerhead: Oceanfront, Beautiful Walkway Over Marsh has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If not, reach out to the host before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.

Know before you go:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
