Each bedroom also has a private deck with additional furnishings. Dine al Fresco with a drink in-hand on the screened porch or in the sizable backyard while lazily relaxing in the hammock or tree swing. A short walk of fewer than 4 mins. takes you from the driveway to the sand where you’ll lay your blanket.

As an added additional, the breathtaking walkway over the Davis Canal at 29th St is even closer than the beach and provides a phenomenal opportunity to view the island’s wildlife, including foxes, herons, and other shorebirds, deer, and more. This walkway also provides painless access to the Oak Island Recreation Center. Fishing is available from one of two fishing piers on the island as well as from the Davis Canal, 40th Street inlet.
Appreciate being out on the water? With over 100 ft of driveway to park your boat trailer and drive to one of the many boat launches all over the island, you can quickly be out on the ICW (inter coastal waterway) which gives you water access to the Atlantic Ocean, Lockwood Folly River, Southport or Baldhead Island. For a unique beach experience take a drive out to The Point.
Need more? There are two public golf courses on Oak Island and well over 15 golf courses with scenic vistas and natural settings within a 20 min. to 1-hour drive.
Just bring your beach towels! Beach chairs, umbrellas, toys for the kiddos, a enormous (wheeled) cooler, bicycles and a wagon are included at no additional cost. Tips to get the optimal Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Wilmington, NC vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by having your family select vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 3Min Walk to Beach w/Marsh View: Bright Spacious Family Home has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC beach you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
