Oak Island rental home booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your Wilmington, NC vacation home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the best vacation rental:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. \"Elemental\" 6Bedroom, New Build, Ocean View with Private Pool & Elevator has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Wilmington, NC beach you crave, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
