Rental booking tips:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • To book the most suitable rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the best rental home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Ebert-Artis Cottage - Heart of Downtown has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your trip.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
