Welcome to the calming neighborhood of Harbor Island at Wrightsville Beach and Mr Frog's Figs & Ferns Cottage!

This furnished street level bungalow is located in an exclusive neighborhood quietly tucked just a walk away from the hustle & bustle of the WB strip and it's gorgeous white sandy beaches. The narrow 1-way street of North Channel is a favorite for walkers, cyclists and neighbors to stop, chat and catch up on the day's activities. Our home is one of the few remaining classic cottages constructed in the 1940's, but refreshed with all the modern amenities we appreciate. And it's one of the only solar powered homes at Wrightsville Beach that generates enough power to completely offset it's carbon footprint, along with some of our neighbors too!

The 1st floor 900 sqft 2 bed 1 bath (+ outdoor shower) offers a enormous living room, freshly remodeled bathroom, full kitchen, full size refrigerator, Keurig, flat screen Intelligent TV, fiber optic internet, washer/dryer, 2 full size beds + 1 twin pull-out couch. Out back you’ll encounter one of the biggest lush green yards in the neighborhood with a fabulous open to the stars hot outdoor shower, mature landscape, gas bar-b-que grille and a paddle board available for water adventure for our guests. We even have a Fire pit for those cooler evenings as well! Sorry, but no family pets & no smoking please.

This beach bungalow is also the ideal starting point to your Island adventure! Right across the street, the Islands most pristine public access to Banks Channel offers you countless paddle boarding, swimming & kayaking opportunities from a sandy beach just 30 steps from your door.

At the end of the street, you’ll find the WB Loop, a 2.5 mile spectacular trail. It is a well-appreciated treasure that offers a walking or running experience you won’t find anywhere else. Feel at home with a morning run or stroll as you savor vistas of the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW), Banks Channel, shady live oaks and handsome salt marshes as you make your way around this impressive path. While always active but never busy, it is sure to inspire you to move! Want a different mode of transportation? Bicycle units are just a 5 min walk over the Causeway bridge!

Sensational WB Park, less than 1 mile away, offers four tennis & pickleball courts, basketball, volleyball, kids play equipment, obstacle course equipment, or fields for whatever you prefer. From May-Oct, every Monday the park hosts a FARMERS MARKET Mondays 8 am - 1 pm.

All the fun at the beach making you hungry? Within a 10 min walk you have a selection of the best coffee stores, eateries, Ice Cream & Frozen Custard at the beach ~ The Workshop, Tower 7, South Beach Grille, Poe’s, Zeke’s Beans & Bowls and Kohl's Custard. Interested in some local craft beer? Head over the drawbridge just ¼ mile to the locally owned hidden gem of Waterman’s Brewing Co.~ closest brewery to Wrightsville Beach!! There you can enjoy not only marvelous craft beer, but scrumptious lunch, dinner & weekend brunch!

We always like our guests to know that this is a duplex and that if you have any questions, concerns or need suggestions, we live right upstairs! Our family will do our best to make sure you enjoy your stay as much as we enjoy living in this special beach home!
Cheers! Don & Trish

Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Get the most from your budget:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Wilmington, NC restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and picking the perfectrental home:

  • To start, have your family commit to date ranges and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Mr Frog's Figs & Ferns Beach Cottage - Swim & Kayak Launch w\/5 min Walk to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
