Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and picking the bestrental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Pet Friendly Duplex Across from Crystal Pier has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation.
  • If there's a particular Wilmington, NC attraction you are crazy about, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your agreement.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
