Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
