Tricks and tips to get the best Wilmington, NC vacation home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select your vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Traditional sound front cottage w historic charm! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
