Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Summer months are high season in Bald Head Island. To find the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Wilmington, NC vacation home:

  • Start by having your group decide on the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Home in Ideal Location on South Beach- 20% off open week in August has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
