  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
