Oak Island vacation rental booking tips:

Get the best value:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • To find the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Walk to Beach, Eateries & Pickle Ball\/ Tennis Court. Designated parking spot. has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC attraction you crave, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
