How to book the best Wilmington vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, change your family's Wilmington, NC vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have coupons for local tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 2 historic district condos with river-view balconies & highly walkable locale has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon check in. text the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
