Strategies for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Wilmington, NC area. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Wilmington, NC vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Early Busby - Contemporary Single Family Home on the Sound with Jacuzzi tub has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
